Vanity Install – One Room Challenge Week 5

WE.HAVE.A.VANITY!

That’s right! We received our bathroom vanity and sink in the mail on Saturday. We were supposed to get it Friday October 27th — so mama was getting a little worried!

Our project was a little bit delayed because of the late delivery but we’re hauling booty in the next week. It should be smooth sailing from here on out… well after we get the vanity installed. There’s been a couple issues here and there, which I’ll share with you below.

Just in case you’re just tuning in: this is where we started.

we completely demoed this bathroom down to the studs

Our Progress

  1. First we had to figure out where we wanted the vanity and faucet to be on the wall. (we sat the vanity of top of books to get a visual)
  2. Once we decided the height we wanted for everything Mike had to install pieces of wood where the vanity would be hanging. The vanity is pretty heavy because of the marble top so it obviously had to be installed into something beside sheetrock. It was a little difficult to work around all the existing parts like PVC, copper, gas lines, and electric.
  3. Mike did the plumbing with PVC. After he was done working with the PVC he tested the water. (best to test the water before closing up the wall — no leaks)
  4. We finally have a fully sheetrocked bathroom! Hallelujah!

It doesn’t look like much… but it is! Remember we took this bathroom down to the studs! It’s looking like a bathroom again…kinda.

Soooo now that I’ve shared the difficult parts, I’ll give you the good. First let’s start with I’m obsessed with all of our items we got from Bed Bath and Beyond. Second, all of my original choices look like they’re going to fit.

I think it’ll totally be smooth sailing from here on out. Installing the vanity was something we were both a little nervous about. I can’t wait to see it all finished!

Next week we’ll have a TON more to show you hopefully! 🙂

In the meantime head over to see all of the amazing rooms the other guests are creating!
