DIY Fixer Upper Home Decor

Sprucing up the Entryway with Allmodern

Our Entry Story

This post is sponsored by Allmodern but as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you’re new here… we just moved into our new house in July. It’s a fixer upper. Just about EVERYTHING has to be redone. It’s been a little overwhelming so starting with one thing at a time helps. I thought it would be nice to redo our little entry way with for the time being so it feels a little nicer to come into the house thanks to Allmodern!

The entryway might change structurally. I might want to cut that wall in half going up the stairs so that when you come in the house you can see through instead of stare at the wall but thats a project for the future. For now let me show you what we did!

Our entryway BEFORE

Now that you’ve seen what it looked like before let me show you how it looks now and how I worked with Allmodern to make it feel homey and exciting. We still need a new front door so stay tuned for that!

Here’s a couple tips for making the entry inviting!

  1. Lighting
  2. Plants
  3. Consoles and tables
  4. Rugs
  5. Paint
  6. Wallpaper
  7. Art
  8. Mirrors

The items I got from Allmodern for our Entry!

The planter for the snake plant is one by Hilton Carter. I got the smaller size and it’s still pretty big! I loved the architectural shape of it and the earthy-ness of it! It’s the perfect size for a medium sized plant or tree. I think it would look really pretty with just about any kind of plant in it. A must have! I also wanted to add plants, especially snake plants near the entrance because they help filter the air naturally. A perfect vibe when entering the home.

I also wanted to add a mirror near the door because hey… who doesn’t like to give themselves a last look before heading out!? Mirrors also help reflect light and make the entrance brighter. This sleek arched top mirror also comes in gold. It’s such a pretty addition to any room really. It also stands so if you’re looking for a floor mirror this is a great choice too! I wanted to hang mine and add a pretty painted mural behind it.

Lighting is a HUGE importance when making a space feel put together and inviting. I wanted to go with something with a special fun shape and that didn’t cause too much distraction to the space. I think the Alfonso light is the perfect mix. It has a really fun shape and it compliments the airy feeling entrance. It’s the perfect size too!

A rug is also a great way to add some warmth and softness to an entrance. It’s all about the feeling in a space and a lot of that is subconscious. People don’t enter a home and process whether it is soft and warm… they just feel it or they don’t. I chose the Autrey Copper Tufted rug to do just that. It’s a beautiful warm color (especially for fall) and it’s neutral but also has some design on it that can make the space feel architectural and modern.

Another tip is buying for the size of your space. Entryways can sometimes be tiny so I found the perfect little pedestal table. Usually this corner would look pretty bare and blank but the Cherri end table is JUST enough. It’s a petite size and can carry a plant, candle or books.

Another great way to add character and excitement to your entrance is with wallpaper! I actually ordered some wallpaper for the entry too but I wanted to wait until we got the new front door in. It’s beautiful though. The Freddy wallpaper has a really modern look and will give a neutral space some excitement while keeping it neutral. It pairs well with other patterns too! It’s not peel and stick though so just a heads up.

I hope this was super helpful in helping you decide how to make your entryway inviting! You can head to Allmodern to check out a lot of their ideas. There are SO many beautiful items to choose from. I can’t wait to see what you do. Tag myself and Allmodern on social media to show us!
