DIY Fixer Upper One Room Challenge

One Room Challenge Week 3: It’s finally a room!

The office is finally looking like a room! If you saw last week, the room was just studs! We finally got some sheetrock up and you can see the room’s shape at least. I’m feeling a little stressed by time but I’m also staying positive.

Yay, sheetrock!

What’s Next?

We’re getting the room spackled and sanded this week so by next week the room will be ready for prime and paint. I’m SUPER excited to see the room spackled and everything. That’s when a room really starts to make sense. After the walls are spackled and painted we’re going to get the floors done upstairs. That’s when I can finally start moving furniture into the room and getting the last details sorted out. It’s really the big reno work that takes the most time.

It’s so weird to see the room without the portal window leading to the garage ha! The longer wall in this room had a window overlooking the inside of the garage because the garage was built on after the house was built and the owners never patched it in.

I’m also waiting on a couple more items to come in. I’m excited because I DID get the IKEA shelves I wanted for my products for Goldly. They were sold out last week. They actually sold out AGAIN this week. Mike drove all the way to BROOKLYN to get them. Good times. It’s the VITTSJO shelf in black but I’m going to spray the shelves the same color as the wall so only the products really pop off the wall. I think the black would be a little too bold.

I put together the chandelier (pictured above) that I received from a wonderful sponsor, Hudson Valley Lighting. I cannot wait to see this light hanging over the vintage desk I found on Facebook Marketplace.

I also got the hardware for the doors in the mail too! All of the hardware for the doors are from Delaney Hardware. All of the handles will be a really pretty satin brass color. (pictured below)

By next week hopefully I’ll be showing you the freshly spackled room, rug, paint colors, wallpaper and some more goodies! I’m really excited for this room to come together.

New post coming every Wednesday!

In the Meantime…

Check out some of the other amazing featured designers for ORC. I’m so excited to see all of their rooms! And as always, thank you Linda for having me as a designer, Better Homes and Gardens the media partner and all of the wonderful sponsors that make this possible!
