DIY Fixer Upper One Room Challenge

One Room Challenge Week 7: Almost at the Finish Line!

Wow! We are DAYS away from our One Room Challenge reveals. I can’t believe it’s been 7 weeks of doing this room. It’s been a crazy ride (as always). Of course, some things didn’t go as planned but I think SOME things went better than planned.

Let’s take a second to think about where we started *eek*

What we’ve done so far:

If you’ve been watching you know we took this ENTIRE room down to the studs. There we’re NO walls in this room at one point. We put up all new insulation, sheetrock, taped and spackled, primed, had the wood floors redone upstairs, painted and then started moving the furniture up about 5-7 days after the floors cured.

What I want to get done before reveal (I HOPE):

Are you ready for this list?

  1. wallpaper closet
  2. repaint cabinet, add handles and feet (not pictured)
  3. paint doors
  4. install hardware by Delaney Hardware
  5. install Troy lighting chandelier and medallion
  6. paint ceiling
  7. install built in bookshelf (not sure if this is going to happen)
  8. add shelves to the closets
  9. move computer upstairs
  10. add ceiling vent
  11. bring Goldly products in!
  12. add last decor and hang art

UMMM yep, I’m nervous 🙂 🙂

Here’s another look at where we’re at though!

The rug is from Balta rugs, I believe it might be sold out but you can go to the website and put your email in to be alerted when it’s back! It also comes in navy and a terra-cotta color too I think.

The desk, chair and lamp are all vintage items I found for the room. The shelves in the back (that I’m debating painting) are from IKEA.

Where that missing spot of paint is, is where we’re going to try to install a built in bookshelf. We might not get it done before reveal but it WILL go there eventually lol!

We’re adding pipes that are cut in half on the back wall of the arch “closet” to make it look fluted. It looks a little odd now but it still has to get painted the same color as the rest of the closet. The other closet is getting wallpaper from Society6 on the back wall. It’s the wonky smiley wallpaper. It’s super cute!

I painted all of the walls Top Hat Tan by Kelly-Moore Paints. I went with eggshell for the walls and I actually did the same color on all of the molding but in high gloss. The left closet color inside, which you can’t see too well yet is Marshmallow by Kelly-Moore as well.

Final REVEAL post coming next Wednesday!

In the Meantime…

Check out some of the other amazing featured designers for ORC. I’m so excited to see all of their rooms! And as always, thank you Linda for having me as a designer, Better Homes and Gardens the media partner and all of the wonderful sponsors that make this possible!
