DIY Fixer Upper One Room Challenge

One Room Challenge Week 4: Halfway Progress!

AH! We’re halfway through One Room Challenge! We finished sanding the room and primed the walls last week. It feels like things are going pretty slow so far but I think once we get some paint on the walls and the floors get done it will feel a lot better. Then I can start moving furniture in. We’re supposed to be getting the floors done on the 29th and 30th. I’m super nervous because we can’t move furniture in for quite a few days and that’s putting us pretty close to REVEAL day! Just staying positive over here!

Let’s take a look at how far we’ve come…

Week 1
Week 2
Week 4

Just to recap, we had to take this room down to the studs because the walls were in such bad condition. They had sappy nicotine stains all over the walls and it just felt best to make it a fresh space. You can go back and see more about the space before this point in Week 1, Week 2 & Week 3.

Decor

I want to see the decor in there SO badly! It’s really hard to space plan and pick colors when I have nothing to go off of. I feel like this is purely being designed in my brain and on the Over app with a little moodboard but it’s really hard to see what the definite outcome will be. I did however have Mike and his brother move this desk into the room. It’s a monster. I’m telling you this has to be the heaviest piece of furniture we own. I found it on Facebook Marketplace and I’m happy that I’m going to be adding some vintage and found pieces into the space. I didn’t want everything to be new because that’s not really my style anyway. I like when rooms have character and a story.

The thing I love most about the desk is that it looks good from all angles and thats EXACTLY what I was looking for. I’m keeping the desk in the middle of the room so this is perfect. It has some blemishes but that doesn’t bother me at all. I’m still undecided on the chair but I think this might be the one, or maybe another more modern green one I have. The lamp isn’t staying on the desk, that was just to get the vibe of the room going ha! That lamp will be hopefully getting a new shade and then going on a DIYed IKEA cabinet on the wall with the skylight.

Colors

I’m still not 100% on the paint color which is weighing on me pretty heavy. I’m choosing colors by Kelly-Moore Paints and there’s so many good ones! I think I’m definitely staying in the pink realm though. I wanted to do something different but the rug I got has pink and I’m still not sure about the wallpaper for the ceiling. UGH there’s so much. I know it’ll all come together though. Pray for ya girl!

I’m kinda obsessed with the checkered rug. I think it also comes in a clay color and dark blue? It’s by Balta but you can order on Overstock. Enter your e-mail so you can a notification when it’s back in stock.

Well I hope you love the updates! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments or any suggestions on colors 😉
