It’s that time again! It’s time for another One Room Challenge. I joined in last year in the Fall one to do my downstairs half bath. I definitely learned a lot last time and I’m ready to put my skills to the test again. (Except for the whole don’t start last minute thing. I don’t think I’ll ever learn my lesson with that)
In classic Goldalamode fashion we’re doing this in real time folks! We haven’t started any work yet -only in my head. Mike is so excited as you probably guessed already. However I wanted to share with you some of my ideas and inspo!
This is basically me going over my ORC plans….
- New wall paint or wallpaper
- Add molding
- New lighting
- Re-do closet
- Add closet doors
- Remove wallpaper in closet and hand paint design
- New art
- New curtains
- Paint floor
- New rug
- Get rid of popcorn ceiling?
- Other random things I’ll decide to do
The thing about the ORC is….. sponsors. As you could guess this all costs moola. So sometimes things change depending on cash flow and sponsors. I put together this little mood board with my initial ideas and inspo. The room PROBABLY won’t end up looking like this but at least you can get a vibe for what I’m going for.
I’M ADDING COLOR! I mean isn’t that enough considering every room in my house is white. I’m looking to add some tone on tone action in this room! I’m thinking the wall color, curtains and bedding can all match? By tone on tone I mean same color just different tones. I really like that look as of now. I think it’s really pretty and if you’re going to add color then REALLY add it, ya know?
This one is definitely a little dark for me. I LOVE the color though. I’m also thinking half of the wall could be white and only half (the bottom) could be purple molding. I’m not sure if I’m that brave for an entire purple room yet. I also think my anxiety would be at an all time high. Like higher than right now.
This one has a little more color and contrast to it. I originally liked this one a lot but I think the curtains are a no-go. I found similiar ones on Society6 but they were only 84″ inches and I think I have a slight hate for short curtains. I need those 96″ babies. So we’ll see about the wallpaper. If not maybe I can try to do an ombre effect with paint? Do you dare me?!
CURRENT ROOM STATUS:
I’m going to describe the current status of the room as chicken coop / storage unit. So we’ve been keeping our chicks in there as they grow old enough to move outside but they’re getting evicted today. Now they’ll move to my office where the finches live. Looks like I won’t be working in my office for about 2 months. Hello, dining table.
But seriously…. do not judge us. I know you all have that ONE room too. That room that you use as the storage room or where all the excess junk goes. I promise by the end of this it’ll look livable!
I think we should do the chicks house next for ORC? One Coop Challenge coming at ya.
Tell me what you think in the comments! What should I go with? Option 1 or option 2 and why?
I hope you join myself and the other ORC guests in the next 6 weeks to see some awesome transformations!
